I just went through the game in an attempt to analyze our results when we blitz vs no blitz.

We only blitzed a paltry 8 times yesterday on by my count 65 plays. We gave up a total of 10 yards on those 8 blitzes (10 passing on 4 passing plays and 0 running on 4 blitzes against the run). Obviously we were very successful the few times we blitzed. The first TD Cincy scored was on a blitz, but it was a great one handed catch by a guy who was covered very well.

When we did not blitz we gave 509 yards and had two pass interference penalties on 57 plays.

So here is the question for Hank and TJ, why did we only Blitz 8 times?

Lack of pressure on the QB has been an issue this year. Just not enough speed from our DE's.

I noticed yesterday that Cincy had several big plays on 1st down. It appeared that we were in a base D, rushed 4 & Kay had all day to find a receiver.

Hughes probably wants big guys up front to stop the run, but I think we need more speed on the edge. Need to get a quicker DE or have an LB blitz on pass plays on early downs.
