A bag of hot air most of the time but I'll take him over Len Elmore. Remember Lenny doing commentary with Mike Patrick versus Cincy last season? Seconds left, Boat has the ball and takes the buzzer beater...and he interrupts with "or you could run at'em with a Calhoun."

He's no Dickie Simpkins, but he makes good points pretty often. It's only once in a while last year that he showed some old PC evil.

Who was the guy that spent 5 minutes explaining the new rules as the reason Purvis got called for a foul with 10 minutes to go, when 2 Maine players collided and he hadn't come within 3 feet of either player.

This was the most praise I've ever heard from Welsh. At one point, he said something along the lines of "I don't know how you would go about defending this team." Very high praise from a guy that loved to wag his finger at us the last two years.

Quite frankly, I always felt Tim Welsh was fair.

It isn't that he has an anti-UConn bias or lacks knowledge of the game, it's that he's monotonous and sticks with his pre-determined narratives even in the face of evidence to the contrary.
