Seems this is something we can find in New England (and NY/PA/NJ/MD ... our prime recruiting territory).

We have found them all over the place. Converted Griffin from all-everything in a New Hampshire program. Delahunt from a post-grad league in Ottawa, CANADA. Took Danny Murray off the basketball court. Tim Lassen? He was milking cows or something.

We now have an UNPROVEN Sean McQuillan. Walk-0n Spencer Parker (who I saw make some good plays on Specials last year ... with speed). And the two FROSH - Tommy Myers and Quinn Thompson. If you remember Weist's receivers at Cincinnati, they had GREAT TE's over the last 5 years. This position is very unproven ... and maybe we will see Man-sized Myers get pushed to the field early. Maybe we see conversions ... and that was THE Cincy story. They took QBs (like McCummings - though he's short at 6-2) or DEs and put them in this role.

We didn't use Ryan Griffin as effectively as we should with DeLeone. Danny Murray, for me, was a asset that we never saw enough of. Weist? Your turn.

Good post. When I saw McCummings at 240 lbs the first thing I thought of was TE conversion. We'll see.

I know Fuchs is grey shirting but isn't he a TE also? He'll add depth next year and I think will be here in Jan so he'll get Spring practice time too?

Maybe the biggest question mark with this team. I am optimistic about McQuillin and hopefully somebody else steps up as well.

Why we didn't use our TEs more effectively last season is a mystery to me. GDL was so focused on making things complicated when some duck*ing play action would have been just fine.

Do you drive down the highway looking thru the rearview mirror the entire time? At what point do you stop b!tching and moaning about last year? It's over. There's a new OC. How do you take a post about the future TEs and turn it in to a GDL rant?

And I would love to see them move SM to TE/WR/Hybrid - not only to take advantage of his size and speed, but also so we could use him on sweeps w/o broadcasting it. He could be a Jordan Reed type.

Because I watched every game last season with a coaching staff with one of the best defenses in the country run the most inane offenses known to mankind.

Don't like my posts....don't read'em.

Brief blurb on Thompson from his local paper:

McLane grad Thompson to play tight end for Connecticut

General McLane graduate Quinn Thompson will play tight end and wear No. 83 during his freshman season with the University of Connecticut football team. The school recently posted the Huskies’ roster and Thompson’s bio on its website. Thompson is listed at 6 feet 4 inches, 222 pounds.

He played quarterback and defensive end during his senior season at McLane, but he will return to his natural position of tight end, which he played during his junior, sophomore and freshman years.

This is the sixth consecutive season that the Huskies have had a General McLane graduate on their roster. Blidi Wreh-Wilson redshirted for UConn in 2008 and played cornerback during the 2009-12 seasons. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the NFL Draft in April.

UConn will open the season Aug. 29 at home against Towson.

Against Michigan they are going to need very effective TE play to take pressure off the line. I don't see our O-line winning in the trenches based on last year and it being early in the season, and we can expect a stacked box until we can prove we have some at least some semblance of an operative passing game.

You need to be more specific in your title! I thought you were talking about a 22 year old co-ed I saw on campus last month.
