Tiffany Hayes carries on the UCONN tradition of WNBA successes.
Former UConn Star Tiffany Hayes Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player Of The Week

Tiff was not the "franchise" player that A'ja Wilson or Breanna Stewart" was perceived to be coming into the league, but she has improved on the skills and understanding she brought with her from college.

There have been numerous players that can be named here, Brittany Sykes, Courtney Williams and Ariel Atkins come to mind. None were perceived as high profile players coming in, but all three made the cut, and have managed to work their way into the starting lineup.

Hayes has been playing in the shadow of Angel McCaughtry since her rookie season. Last season when McCaughtry took the year off, Tiff took advantage of the opportunity to step up, became a leader and the team's leading scorer.

Tiff continues to perpetuate the rich and proud tradition of the UConn Women's Basketball Program. She epitomizes the finished product the program has become known for on and off the court.

"While at UConn from 2008 to 2012, Hayes was a two-time member of the All-Big EastFirst Team and helped the Huskies to two national titles. She was also a part of two other Final Four appearances with the team and finished her college career with just seven losses.

She scored 20 or more points in 23 games, and scored 30 points or more in three games at UConn. Hayes was a finalist for the Wooden Award and Wade Trophy. She was drafted No. 14 in the 2012 WNBA draft by Atlanta."

Tiff can shake and bake. We tend to remember certain big, big names, but the UConn heritage of excellence is far deeper than that.

I'll never forget a tough Arizona team in Philly in the regionals and Tiff was raining 3's.

Tiff came up big against Louisville, Cal, and many other teams. She had a big game in MSG and still holds the UConn record for 30 points in a half.

She was a steal in the draft. How many #14 picks are still in the league?

Tiff is 12th in the league in scoring, at 17.4 ppg. Angel is 14th, at 16.4. Tiff leads the 2nd-place Dream in scoring.
