All too often schools were unable to sell the seats they were required to sell to their fans, which cost the schools, conferences and bowls tens of millions of dollars in ticket revenue, not to mention stadiums with seas of empty bowl seats. “The bowls were willing partners,” a bowl rep said. “The bowls wanted to build out their local sales staffs so they could sell into their local market throughout the year.
