I agree, the y should use every opportunity to get these kids to a place they can flourish . Very, very tough year for them.

Yes, I don't read too much into it. It makes sense that some would just not want to stay for emotional reasons. Also it sounds like the one girl was leaning elsewhere and made a turn-around when she went to OSU.

Ultimately, it isn't Budke's team anymore (said sadly) and not everyone might really want to continue their career at OSU without him (or the other coach that died).
