"A major dance marathon is underway at the University of Connecticut.
Thousands of students turned out for the HuskyTHON Dance Marathon, UConn’s annual fundraiser for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The students will dance for 18 hours straight, from 6 p.m. Saturday to 12 p.m. Sunday.
“I’m really excited,” said UConn sophomore Kelly Rose Yaeger. “It’s going to be a long night but I’m excited for it. It’s going to be fun.”
HuskyTHON is the largest student-run philanthropy event in New England and this year it was named the 11th top collegiate fundraiser in the nation by Children’s Miracle network Hospitals. Student teams organize year-long fundraising events leading up to the Dance Marathon. Each team also sponsors a child throughout the year who also attends the marathon.
Every year students hope to break the donation record. Last year students raised $560,104.55. The money goes toward research and to the families who need treatment."
Even had a donation from Taylor Swift! Raised $750k for Connecticut Children's Medical Center this year. Good job students!
