This time 3 years ago…

The coaches are still tinkering. There will be some experimentation with personnel, rotations and style of play. February 15 is coming fast, should look a little more finished by then.

..we were 15-5 and 4-5 in the conference. We had just lost 3 games in a row. That year turned out alright for us. This year we are 19-1 and 9-0 in the conference. We are winning some nail-biters but the key word is we are WINNING! Things aren’t so bad…
Finally!!! Hurley himself has stated this team reminds him very much of the 23 team, difference is we are winning those games now. Its pretty good to be a UCONN fan today!

I admit I was down on both of them at the time but they certainly turned it around and the rest is history. If your point is, let's be patient with this year's team, point taken. Thanks!
I was basically saying the Boneyard is going to Boneyard, but yeah, patience can be a good thing.

Million dollar question - is this a “lull” or is this who we are? Many here are finding any reason to opt for the former. Likely somewhere in between. This should be a period that you start seeing some progress, so I can’t buy this concept this is standard MO. I do believe in this staff so I’m holding out that they are in the lab, but I do find it weird we’ve abandoned our bench, depth being a presumed strength.

Some players simply have to step up. Tarris comes to mind. He has not touched expectations.

We haven't abandoned our bench, the starters got healthy and Silas stopped getting into foul trouble every game. The bench simply isn't giving us nearly enough lately offensively in their minutes.

I said it in another thread but...

Still have, arguably the 5 toughest BE games ahead: Creighton x2, St John's x2, and @Nova and Shall is probably top 8 toughest of the 20 games, @Butler too even, possibly. The schedule is very back loaded. Don't want to overlook Providence considering the OT game (but I think Uconn turns it up a notch or two in game 2 at home) or Xavier (but already crushed them away) but very well could be 11-1 going into game 1 vs St John's, and they are breathing down UConns neck in the standings and will likely be 10-1 themselves, could be a fight for sole possession of first. On the road will be very hard.

I'll be fine with 2-2 vs Creighton and St John's winning both at home and 5-2 in the other 7.

2 losses in the remaining regular season schedule is fine and pretty much what I've expected but anything more than 2 would be disappointing to me and it would knock us out of a #1 seed we worked so hard to get with our out of conference play. 4 losses in the remaining regular season games like you're fine with would start feeling like a disaster and would knock us off the #2/#3 line in all likelihood.

Goal is winning BE and a 1 seed. I think this teams needs to keep that one if it can.

We need to see that next gear soon. This is the much tougher stretch as we have road games against the 2/3 teams, plus Creighton.
Not a lot of room for error with StJ at 1 loss, and plenty of teams in line to take the 1 seed given our lousy metrics. Right now the early season non conference is keeping us there but that can get nuked quick with a series of losses in the back half of the BE schedule. I’m assuming StJ will be favored.

You're assuming St. John's will be favored?

It is inconceivable to me that this team can be 19-1 9-0 with every starter and bench player struggling more often than not, yet every starter and bench player can be pointed out for the reason this team has won. I can’t remember a more resilient group!

4 more Ls??? I want the #1 overall seed. That prob means 1 more L at most at either Nova or SJU plus the BET chip.

Its great they are winning these hard fought, tight games and that the defense is elite again. I am concerned about the offensive efficiency. When they run into a top 10 defense that also scores better will they be able to find enough offense?

It's break even with the two NCAA tourney runs where we covered 12 in a row. That made people a lot of money.
I don’t gamble. I’m just echoing the sentiments of all the losers.
