Does anyone else remember the 1st episode of season 2 of The White Shadow (the one where Albert Hodges temporarily enjoys the team)? At the beginning, Coach Reeves is looking disgustedly up and down the line of his returning players and then says how he's going to whip them into shape. He then says, "I don't know about you guys, but I intend to go to the playoffs this year!" Goldstein then replies, "Do you think you could get us some tickets too?"

I wonder if this conversation happened on the first day of practice in 2016-17. I'm not sure who our
Goldstein would be though. Foxen comes closest to looking the part I suppose.

My brain read " ... white castle moment." I clicked. I disappoint.

Well I guess it could sort of be like White Castle for someone who never went before and ordered one burger, expecting it to be a full sized one.

Props for the White Shadow reference and yes I remember that episode. They all probably had that thought running through their heads. Tough season for our boys but they will rebound and regroup and come back strong.

I meant to say "joins the team" not "enjoys the team".

Olander with his long hair could have been a decent Abner Goldstein. White Shadow is my favorite television show of all time.

Boatright always reminded me of Thorpe. They even wore the same number.

If I recall, Heyward and Coolidge were the go to guys.
Wasn't Salami played by a Van Patton?
My favorite episode was the special needs kid they wanted to let play some, and who dressed as the Peanut (George Washington Carver HS) and ran onto the court during the game.
Or was that HR Puf--n Stuff?
God the '70s had great TV

Hayward was more the Bazz type of leader - a big chip on his shoulder but a hardnosed guy who truly cared about his teammates.

Salami was indeed played by Timothy Van Patten.

The peanut episode I believe was called Mainstream and was one of my favorites too.
