I wouldn't go that far yet. But if they keep playing like that they will be. Things have to get better.

Except this year we already have 5 losses and we haven't played a single top-20 team.

Patience is a virtue, but not for you.

I shall wait, but I won't be late to the Notre Dame game.

Just like it was too early to celebrate the #3 spot in the RPI a few weeks back (no matter what Fishy et al. say), it is also too early to call this group an NIT team. A lot of big games (and therefore potential big wins) still on the board.

That being said, I'm not so sure this team can magically turn it around, start playing good basketball, and get those big wins. If/when they get back Boat that will definitely help, but the team's problems go way beyond whether or not Boat is on the floor. Things don't look good right now.

Unless UConn keeps losing, they're not an NIT team. They've got 8 days off, they'll get their act together and they'll be fine.

FSU is better than a slough of top 15 teams. ahem, murray state? Arkansas potentially a top 25 team also.

This is the best post I have read here in a while but if UConn doesnt win against ND in their next game then this will be a guaranteed NIT for us this year. This team's problems go way beyond Boatright. Guys like Daniels, Roscoe, Olander give us nothing on the court against mediocre big conference teams. Drummond doesn't understand basketball, he doesnt rebound, defend well, and or have any post move. I expected more from the guy with his size and athleticism. Lamb was very good today and played well in general by far our best player. Napier was solid but no backup and no penetration by him is slowing the game down for us even more and there is no offense but some chucks by guys with the clock winding down. The problems of this team are much deeper than Napier or a lack of Boatright.

Keep drinking the Koolade. This team will lose by 20 at 'Cuse and by 10+ at UCONN. Please don't hang your hopes for this season on us beating Syracuse to save our season. Have you watched them this season and us?

Even after last year, people still are fcking morons.

I've learned my lesson on that end. Never count out the Huskies and Jim Calhoun.

I'm not sure if it's blind faith or just poor logical reasoning skills, but people on this board can't keep applying what happened last year to what is happening this year (or, for that matter, any other year in the future).

I know talk of the bubble sounds crazy with the talent on this roster, but with the way this team has played over the last three weeks, it isn't that far fetched. I even said it yesterday. If this team goes 6-6 down the stretch, which is very possible, at this point, I don't see how they are a tournament lock by any means. If Tennessee played half decently today they would have lost by 20 points. If Cincy didn't collapse down the stretch on Wednesday, that's a ten point loss as well. This is a really bad offensive team right now, and those of you who cried for a hanging at any mention of the 09-10 team may now be understanding the comparison. Major struggles on offense, no sense of urgency for most of the game, the best player isn't much of a leader, and generally not knowing what you are going to get on a nightly basis.

Now I'm not suggesting the fans should give up on the season, because this team still has the talent to put it together. It has become quite clear though, that at the moment, this is not a top 25 team, and doesn't have the offenseive firepower to take care of buisness night in and night out, and until they mangage to play with consistent intensity, it will remain that way.

Not NIT relegated yet, but I could see an 8 seed in our future...maybe.

This is exactly what i was trying to get at in another thread. The reason why last year was so special is because things like that dont happen every year. Trust me its ok to be positive, but you cant blind yourself from the problems the team has just because they won a NC last year in a year they also lost a lot of games.
