I don't like all the threads on this topic, but KO could put an end to it by saying "I'm not going anywhere nor going to even listen to what any NBA team has to say till I finish what I stated here at UConn." Now that's not been said, nor have UConn and KO worked out a new contract. Until that happens speculation will continue to take place.
I think he's going to stay at UConn as long as the program offers him a reasonable contract. But as long as there are franchises that he has strong connections to that can offer him a lot more money than UConn can, such as Oklahoma City, and the Lakers, they will continue to pose a threat. And until this situation is put to bed, recruits are going to think twice about committing here. If a recruit like Adams is faced with a choice between UConn and KU, and Self tells him he needs to decide now or he'll take another PG, we run the risk of losing recruits in these types of situations until this gets resolved. This is just an example and what factors into his decision might have nothing to do with KO's final destination.
I believe that Hamilton has yet to sign his LOI, and likely won't, making it a nonbinding situation and leaving him an out if Ollie jumps at an NBA offer. And the 2015 recruits would likely jump ship if Ollie were to leave now.
Bottom line, KO can put a stop to this by saying he's not interested in talking to anyone other than UConn, or UConn completing that contract with him ASAP. until then there will never be an end to all these threads popping up left and right on the boneyard.
Now I understand the negotiating leverage that KO might need to use by keeping the NBA door open. If that being the case, we will have to live with this till a new contact is signed.
