9/10, we were supposed to be good with 3 Srs plus Kemba, we stunk

10/11 we were going to be worse than 9/10, we won the national championship

11/12 we're going to be great, no so great

I'm thinking the fact that everybody is down on this team for 12/13 is a pretty good sign

I'm not too down on the overall ability of the team, but I'm down on the chances of next year being a success. Mainly because we're not postseason eligible. But maybe the NCAA will change their minds this summer, we become postseason eligible, and stick it to them by winning the whole damn thing again with a couple of guards and some duct tape. I'd love that.

Shabazz Napier - 2nd PG on a NC team as a freshman, made huge plays. rea Very solid player. Junior.
Roscoe Smith - good for 10 boards a game, shot showed improvement this year toward the end, tenacious. Very solid player.
Niels Giffy - Shown stretches of being an excellent team player - does a bit of everything. German. Very solid.
Tyler Olander - Low ceiling, has probably reached it - solid as a role player, plus 5 fouls.
Omar - High level recruit - already showing signs of having a great attitude.
DeAndre Daniels - Huge work ethic. System believer. High upside. Great motor. Very solid potential.
Boatright - Fractured but excellent freshman year. The kind of "I will win, and you can't stop me" attitude that allows a team to play above a level it could otherwise achieve.
Guy from HC - will likely provide solid back-up minutes at the point.
Wolf - may improve enough by October to be enough of a defender to allow us not to get killed by opposition centers.

Assuming no defections - every guy returns the next year.

2013-2014 could be a very solid, no superstars but everybody solid, type of team that makes a deep tourni run.

We have a very real need for one more big man, by which I mean 6/10 or over with size.

But here's the thing - and I'm borrowing/stealing this from some other poster - all of the head cases (Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, AO), sub par talent (Trice, Niagara kid, etc.), and NBA talent that didn't seem to bring a killer attitude (Lamb AD), are gone.

We're starting fresh.

Whether we play in the tourni next year or not is not critical.

We're back. We're back to what JC used to make UConn what it is - Every guy on the roster plays hard, and with heart. Every guy will play for the team first. Every guy buys in.

I'm looking forward to it. The housecleaning appears to be complete.

That is your very real, very thick, silver lining.

Would love to see Wolf give us 20 min. a game and have the ability to step outside and hit from 15-20 feet.

If he can give us more points than fouls per game and a decent number of rebounds I'll be more than happy with Wolf. There will be a few minutes here and there where a big body is all we will need him to supply.

Next year will be great for fans of exhibition games. We'll have 32 of 'em.

They can still win real things (last real Big East title). Those things matter, but they matter an order of magnitude less than NCAA success.

For the record and you can check my posts I thought the 9/10 would not be very good, I predicted a Nat'l Champ in 10/11 and I knew we would be not so great in 11/12. I believe I used those exact words :rolleyes:

For 11/12 I expect a surprise. I think JC goes to a style of ball eerily similar to the 1987 Providence team. I expect the NCAA to change the APR time period and we become eligible for post season play, making it to the FF after leading the nation in 3 pt shooting, steals and forced turnovers.

Imagine if you will.....

Bazz = Billy Donovan
Boat = Delray Brooks
Daniels = Ernie Lewis
Neils = Dave Kipfer
JC in warm-ups...

I don't know what you're talking about, I've never been wrong in my life.

I actually give myself a partial credit for 10/11

I thought the 9/10 team with Dyson, Sticks, Edwards & Kemba coming off a final four run would be very good, but that inability to win close games did them him, Fail
I thought the 11/12 team coming off a NC and just about everybody but Kemba returning would be conference and FF contenders, Fail
but I did think the 10/11 would be better than the 9/10 team, I argued addition by subtraction. Of course, nobody saw any type of titles. C+
