I finally got up the courage to read the sports section just now and there tucked among the heartbreaking photos of our girls was an article by Chris Elsberry about our young players that made me smile.

It begins: "There was no gas left in the tank, nothing left to give, but the kids, the future of the UConn program, kept going. They kept on pushing, kept on trying to will their team to victory . . . "

The future of the UConn program - oh, do I love that thought!

The article was well done except I guess the writer left the room while Kelly Faris attempted to put the team on her back in the last few minutes of regulation, and almost succeeded. I won't argue for a second about his description of Doty and Hayes, but he did Faris a huge injustice.

Haven't read it, but I am not an Elsberry fan.. IMO, he is the last writer I'd look for if I wanted to read something about UConn.

Kelly had a so-so game until her late game heroics. I thought that Bria and Stef were the most aggressive in the way they wanted the ball. They will be a major part of the core of the team next year.

I just don't think Denver is a fair venue to anyone. Like playing the Superbowl in Foxboro in a blizzard.
