Taking off on the Shawn McGrath article in the UCONN blog. Then - reviewing the Army schedule & the BYU schedule & then considering Liberty + NM State + UMASS

Would we be happy with 2 FCS games per year (even can make the school prestigious LIKE Holy Cross or Fordham or Bucknell) ... because Army thinks that way. And their fans accept.

Then. Where do WE (a shaken Fanbase Like to travel) ... and where are kids we’d recruit.

Here’s my slightly altered 2020 prospective schedule

First rule - other independents are likely booked 4 years out (Liberty & BYU & NM State). We are in UMass schedule going forward; they become a Go To

Ok. With kudos to McGrath

2020

09/03 - UMass
I agree. We should always push UMass far into November; it’s just going to be hard to fill those Saturdays. This should be Turkey Day nearly

09/12 - at Illinois

09/19 - Maine

09/26 - Indiana

at TCU FOX EVENT!!

at Virginia Tech

at FIU

at Buffalo

Fordham

Army

Old Dominion

at Miami (Ohio)

Point 1

Truth about MAC home scheduling - nobody likes to visit them. We can pick whomever we deem attractive with a visit - then get them for Home game in future years. Western Michigan & Toledo & Ohio + Miami (Ohio). This is interesting & gives us a good opening for 2 games a year. We will go to Ohio.

Point 2
CUSA + SunBelt for recent recruitment and future

Texas State & Georgia State & Coastal Carolina & South Alabama. All good visits. Always FLORIDA FLORIDA FLORIDA. We Northeastern people like

Point 3
CAA

UALBANY & Stony Brook & James Madison & Towson & Delaware

Something is going on with the first 4. ALL have ramped up their schedules & have broad thought. Pitt & Syracuse & West Virginia & Maryland - these schools look to be thinking to a next Platform of CFB. Who ever knows about Delaware

Point 4
We are going to Hawaii (and they will visit Rentschler). Simple. This is always a Problem for that University. They’d love to see a Brand like us show up. California PAC 12 loves that - it’s a trip most make often in their lives. See UALBANY is under contract for a Home & Home

No desire to visit Fresno. But fun Fanbase. Wyoming would be interesting

Point 5
Visit attractive areas of country

San Diego State & San Jose State & Utah State & Colorado State

Then.

Playing for November. Who will come to Rentschler in a cold day certain. Brett McMurphy makes this point. FF em. The MAC schools.

With the special sauce. Play Universite’ Laval. 10 time Canadian champ. It would be splashy & 10 million Canadians would be watching

Plus they have great uniforms. We could play there easily

Upon further thought. We aren’t Dead Yet - Monty P says

Good post, but I'm struggling to get past the title. AD with a cell phone? This is 2019, not 1983, so um yeah everyone got one of those fancy smart phone thingies.

Not sure which is scarier, agreeing with most of Pudge’s ideas above or vice versus ... yet I’d add a few possibilities:

Current AD came from Auburn: despite War Eagles’ AD change if umess can get a money game ...

New President from UVA: more 1-for-1’s; recruiting rich area; many alumni DC metro, Research Triangle, Charlotte, drive-able for others

VA Tech, Wake, puke, NC State, UNCheat, USC: similar location reasons as Wahoos

P5: any which will schedule, IU, PU, IL, Iowa Ferentz?, leverage hoops & NY/Bos region for their local & traveling alumni/fans (2-for-1s with current top programs, any 1-for-1s enabled)

FL BCS schools: recruit rich, enough alumni & UConn fans; even FIU & FAU

Rice: recruit rich area; if must play CUSA at least it’s an immensely respectable university; some alumni ( SMU for DFW area)

All NE/near BCS schools

Alumni/CT heavy-relocator areas: GA Tech, UGA?,
as needed, GA State, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion

I-AA: obvious nearby ex-Yankee Conference & whatever it became opponents; BE nova, close enough other schools (skip lowest-level programs a la sacred heart, central new britski college, etc)

Excuse me Pudge if I am wrong. If a FBS schedules 2 FCS teams in a season, doesn't only one count toward Bowl eligibility? Seems that Snookie had that problem when they were in the Big East during the BCS era.

Army has done a couple times recently.

If you go 11-2 … it doesn't matter. If you have zero hope of getting to a bowl for awhile … it doesn't matter.

Connecticut Teachers College beat Wagner last year. Might be worth scheduling!
Beyond psukking <sic> up to legislators influencing funding, filling up schedules, and potentially selling a couple tickets to kid siblings and spouses UConn rejected makes scheduling New Britski State every few to several years reasonable

This is beautiful.

Would be cool to take North Alabama's spot on BYU's 2020 schedule. Shouldn't be too hard to get North Bama to play us instead so long as we're paying.

This is beautiful.
Dont flatter me ... as umessy as it is, here’s a starting model without the benefit of 4-time national champion UConn hoops, NBE-membership, and even women’s basketball as negotiating advantages over umess and BYU:

- UMass, URI, Maine, New Hampshire.
- Delaware, Villanova, Fordham.
- Ohio, Miami-OH, Western Mich, Toledo, Northern Illinois, Buffalo.
- Any academy.
- Any P5.
- Any AAC or MWC.
- Any Indy.

There’s not many I’m leaving out. All of the above would be ok to play.
