This morning, pink slips were dispensed to the entire production crew of the planned blockbuster film, "The Irish Win One for Ace!" A sort of a sequel to the "Win One for the Gipper" that immortalized Pat O'Brien and Ronald Reagan, this time ND inspired by Natalie Achonwa.

This time around, the word is that the producers (Spielberg & Hanks? Cohen Brothers? Disney?) had the plot line in place and had lots of film ready (they bankrolled those ND warmups with the #11 and "Ace" on them), plus selected clips of McGraw interviews).

Casting for Geno was easy. Joe Pesci was ready. Same with a cameo appearance by Charles Barkley as Warde Manuel. But there was some internal dispute about other key roles. When Meryl Streep turned down the Muffet role, some creative casting specialist wanted Halle Berry to do McGraw and Lindsay Lohan to be Skylar Diggins, a masterpiece of the exercise of cinematic license. (Same genius argued for Madonna as Doris Burke and Miley Cyrus as Achonwa.)

Well, when UConn took the fight out of these Irish (hey! Isn't McBride a good Irish name?), the project was cancelled and the writers went back to doing scripts for Jon Stewart or Sean Hannity.

But kicking them when they're down?….I don't know.

It's not like they didn't ask for it. A little too much from them about "disliking" their opponent. It's just didn't need to be paraded in such a way.

Speaking of parades........ :)

What, you'd have us politely applaud their gutsy effort? The thin skinned deserve a little parody. Muffet's pregame behavior detracted from the contest and her team readily bought into the worst of it. Pesci as Geno sorta balances it off: What! What! What did I say!"

I like Joe Pesci but that's a bad pick to play Geno, perhaps DiCaprio is better match?

Absolutely awesome!

Maybe Andy Garcia or Edward Norton if you want younger (he has the range and tone).

The Coen Brothers (I assume that's who you meant) with their sarcastic, darker sense of humor could still make one.

Kibs, you are one cold dude!! Now next year they will prolly put this on their bulletin board and they will look at it all season long, and it will get them all revved up to make super-human efforts to get revenge and.......it won't matter. We will kick their butts again! (You big bully!)
