And sure it makes it more difficult for students to get to the games, but who needs them?
Lol, I thought this was sarcasm, but it turned out to be prescient....
Screaming college kids don't pay the rent.

Duuuude you’re not understanding what kind of an impact 5k more retired or almost retired ā€˜fans’ sitting with their arms folded like they’re watching a tennis match can make on a college basketball atmosphere.
You clearly haven't been to a Hartford game lately. This is nonsense. Hartford crowds are loud and pro-active. Have been ever since post-COVID. You and the knobs giving this comments likes all traffic in bad faith.

AK, Danny and others have said prior to games there ā€œwe need you to be loud this weekend!ā€.
That’s a polite way of saying the crowd energy has sucked and wake the fff up. I guess they wouldn’t know bc they aren’t there?

They need to save that stuff for Gampel. Thank goodness the St. John's game is in Hartford this year.

I don't know what games you been going to but Gampel for the most part has been great since the 2019-2020 season. Not saying Hartford has been bad but the worse crowds have definitely been in Hartford

LOL! They only got good again once they won the first natty!

The Huskies in men’s basketball net $600,000-plus for a sellout in Storrs, $1 million-plus with a sellout in Hartford.

I would love to see the numbers regarding the Hartford deal. I think pretty much everybody was in agreement that a sold out. Civic Center was a money maker for us. The question is what is the crowd size breakeven point for playing in Gampel vs Hartford. Assuming $50 per seat, it's probably around the 8000 mark, which is lower than I would've guessed. Although there's a lot of moving factors. For example, if the civic center is less than a sellout, then it's unlikely that upper level seats are being sold for $50 each. Also, I don't know whether Benedict included concessions and parking revenues, which we make for on campus games, but do not for games played in Hartford, in those numbers.

I also believe that quote was before the new PBA deal. So the numbers may be improved since then.

Both venues are fine. They both get loud when it’s a good opponent and the team is playing well.

Both are sometimes too quiet when it’s a bad opponent or we are playing poorly.

Both have a significant number of ā€œwhine and cheeseā€ fans since the B2B titles that stifle some of the noise.
