In my experience the people who struggle to coach their own kids have some of the same personality traits that would make someone mention them in this thread whether they are their parent or not. It's a challenge and you need to have a high level of self awareness but it's possible. It's also rare for kids to have competent coaches and If you are someone who actually knows what you are doing the experience is much more valuable for them and their teammates than having some random person who has no clue.
