I don't think it's fair to slam Alex. The guy was a stud last year. But I guess it's a what have you done for me lately mentality.
Alex is getting a ton of flack because of what his father tweeted and said. If Alex had been the only one to comment and had said just what he said, he would be getting a lot less. He didn't have a great year this year but I think most fans would welcome him back in a heartbeat if not for things his father has said.
I also wouldn't go as far as to call Alex a stud last year. He was a stud in probably a quarter of the games last year, decent for half and pretty bad in the other quarter. The expectation was that he would have fewer bad games this year and more great games. I'm not sure if he had any great games this year and he had many, many more poor games.
His father tweeting Calhoun has a "slave master mentality" is not something fans are going to take well. Even if you think Calhoun is scum and a harsh coach, to say he has a "slave master mentality" goes beyond the scope of reason and is extremely overly-charged. To be fair it wasn't 100% clear it was about Calhoun, but it can be more than inferred it was about him. I think there are quite a few millionaires out there who would disagree with that sentiment.
I like AO and I think he has handled this situation in a decent way but unfortunately his father has not let AO handle it. I wish his father has kept his mouth shut and AO had waited until the NCAA had ruled to make any statement to the press, even if he looked into.
