>>One day after the worst loss in program history, Al Golden has been fired as Miami’s head coach.

Hurricanes AD Blake James said in the aftermath of the team’s record-breaking 58-0 loss to Clemson that Golden would not be fired and he looked forward to Miami’s effort against Duke next week. A day later, he changed his mind.

“Coach Golden has led our program through some very difficult times and he has done so with class, integrity and a true desire to see our students succeed on the field, in the classroom and in the community.” James said in a statement. “However, we have a proud tradition of excellence at Miami, not just in football but in all sports, and we want to compete for ACC and national championships. I simply believe that now is the time to bring the Hurricane Family together and rally behind our young men.”

Tight ends coach/run game coordinator Larry Scott will serve as interim head coach.<<

Da U is a mess. I am curious to see what kind of coaching candidate pool they will accumulate. I'm sure they'll go after a few "big names", but will those bigger names be interested?

You'll see guys like Schiano, Rob Chudzinski, Tom Herman, Justin Fuente, Cristobol and Mark Stoops mentioned. After that, I don't know who else might be on their list. Some people say Charlie Strong, but I don't see it.

Fuente and Ruhle are as good as gone after this season. There are so many big openings that that will create other openings and the carousel will spin out of control.

Well, UConn knows BD isn't going anywhere after this season.

In fact, how great would that be if Da U hired back to back former Temple coaches? I doubt it would happen but would be fun nonetheless.

^^ This^^ --- causing staff chaos and committed recruit chaos. It's going to cause unintended consequences across the landscape.

So true. Never seen a coaching climate like this since i've been watching CFB

Harbaugh has spoiled all the AD's who want results now. Frankly, Hermann has too. Harbaugh has Brady Hoke's recruits and the team looks completely different. Certain coaches can have that effect. One could here as well. Hopefully it's Diaco.

With the loyalty former Hurricane players have to the U...I'll bet that they basically told the AD any and all $ is shut off till Golden's gone. Of the guys listed Chudzinski and Cristobal are U grads and played on NC teams. Schiano ran a very good D for Butch Davis there as well. I would put my $ on Chudzinski right now.

The U faces a dilemma in that they don't want the outlaw image that they had during their successful periods yet without that image they can't attract the talent necessary to get where they once were.

They just put a boatload of kids into the NFL from a 6 win team. Talent isn't really an issue, especially since it grows on trees down here. They have had two terrible coaches in a row, and Coker who was just an ok coach. They need to find a way to hire the right guy and the rest will be pretty easy in my opinion.
