Had 10 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. We probably need a little more than that especially off the boards. But it was an adequate showing.

Half the points, and all the blocks came from AB. Bazz had 7 rebounds. It's a work in progress, but we need more on the boards, and a little more o to keep d's honest. I like the collective effort, though, and expect to see improvement all season.

Curious to know how many of the 10 points were inside the paint (e.g. putbacks, hooks, contested dunks/shots, etc.). I recall a 3 point shot, and one or two fast break dunks.

2 Dunks by AB, 1 Free Throw, 1 Three by TO, and 1 putback by Phil

I agree we need more but we still collectively outrebounded a very solid team on the boards. I think they were top 10 in the country last year in rebounds. So that's a step in the right direction. It would be nice to have someone average over 7 rebounds tho

10/12/5 should be enough from the 5 to.win just about any game on the up until the FF. Then, 12/15/6 oughta do it.

Just for comparison, last year, the totals for Olander, Wolf & Nolan over the season were 9.1 ppg, 9.2 rpg & 2.3 bpg.

Brimah will improve game by game as he gets used to the physicality at this level. Him coming off the bench like an unchained pitbull is great, just super active.

They all bring a little something different. Trio should be real solid by March.

I'm pretty sure Brimah had 4 blocks but anyway.......... the 10 points is probably minimally acceptable but it would be nice if we had someone who could throw in a back-to-the-basket move a couple times a game to keep defenses honest. The 10 points consisted essentially of 7 garbage points and a once-a-season three pointer. I agree that they need a few more rebounds than that too. That said, at least against Maryland we didn't seem to be giving up a lot of offensive rebounds and second chance points.

In fairness to the big guys, they didnt get the ball on the block almost at all in that game. maybe it's poor positioning, maybe just bad luck, maybe some bad outside shots.

I suspect that we will see the ball dumped inside more often starting today, and even more so if they can prove that they can put the ball in the basket when they get it down there. I bet they will when given the chance.

tcf - thanks for the perspective. That gives us a baseline that we really need to better.

Obviously Wolf is better than Brimah.

I'm not going to complain about the numbers in this game at all. UConn did well against a very good rebounding team! Cleare and Faust, the two guys who supposedly had a significant advantage over UConn's bigs managed just 12 points and 4 rebounds. The trio did just fine.
