For those of us who have mutually been treated to the rare and unique pleasure of watching Mo perform in a UConn uniform, that show, alas, is now entering its final four month run. There exist any number of examples to which one could point that illustrate what she has meant to this team. Here's just one: For anyone interested, visit the replay website and punch up Saturday's game vs ND. Slide the status bar to the 41:50 mark, the time when the second half begins. A halftime decision had understandably been made to shut down the production of the younger Mabrey sister, who had poured in twenty-one points to that point. Mo putatively declared to Geno and to her teammates, "I've got this." Focus throughout only on Mo's defensive performance on every subsequent ND possession, when she superglues herself to the Mabrey kid, to the latter's growing frustration. I dunno, we can wait, and we can hope, but we UConn fans may never see the like of this kid ever again!

Fans have selected Stewie as the Performer of the ND game, 29 points ain't hay, but if the little dynamo (Mo Jefferson) had not stopped Mabrey 2--she would have racked up another 20 points in the second half--and Notre Dame wins. Who saved that game?? You make your own choice.\
BigPetinua--thanks for this. We need T Shirts made with --I've got this and under Mo's Pix
We have Moriah and you don't.

Love her all-around game - great things do come in small packages!
With the exception of her TOs, Jefferson has started her senior season better than she has started any season to date - should she have another post Christmas surge, she might reach the stratosphere!

Are you saying that nobody else on UConn could cover Mabrey? Because if you are, that's kind of sad, really.

No others might have covered her and done it well but it is unlikely anyone else could have completely extinguished her like Mo.

I totally agree with you Icebear. But in the first half, no one seemed up to the task. In the second half, it almost seems like a waste of Mo's talents, as she needs her energy to run the offense.

One of the great things about Mo is that she has the energy to play both offense and defense without letup. Her energy and determination are off the charts.

Because that wasn't the defense they were playing. They were giving the untested freshman plenty of space. Caroline Doty burned a team the same way her freshman year.

There is a difference between playing normal defense which was played most of the first half, and having one player lock onto a single opposing player and play denial defense. Moriah in the second half did not move more than a foot away from Mabrey wherever that ball was or whatever else was happening in the offensive set. In the first half Uconn was playing normal defense with players on the off side cheating toward the lane to be in better position to provide help defense. Big difference in plan.

(Against SC last year it was Chong performing for much of the second half on Mitchell with very good results.)

Yea, apparently the kid had never been covered before.
I don't know if you're using the sarcasm font or not, but Marina Mabrey, herself in a post-game interview said unequivocally that she had never been subjected to the kind of defense MoJet played on her Saturday.

She did the same thing to Jewel Lloyd in the Natty, last year so it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

There are obviously many Great MOments, but what I remember was Moriah guarding an opponent about to make an in-bounds pass BEFORE the opponent got to the in-bounds point. Jefferson was playing even before the game was back on. Mo smiled in embarrassment at the move. Funny AND endearing. We may not see her like again.

What is truly amazing about this young lady is her transformation. Jefferson has become an all around great player. The weakness in her game was her shooting and look how she has developed into a great shooter along with her other talents. That is not an easy thing to do when teams were leaving you wide open. That takes an amazing amount of hard work and confidence.

I believe that was against SC as well, and the ref had to tap her on the shoulder, because the player she was guarding was supposed to be the inbounder, but Mo wasn't going to allow even the ref to complete a pass against her!
Absolutely loved that moment, thanks for reminding me!:)

I wasn't aware of that.

Let's not forget Tiffany Hayes's freshman season game against a very good Louisville team. She dropped 6 3-pointers on them when Jeff Waltz decided not to guard her. Fun to watch.
