Quick throwback to this convo earlier in the season on CV and the 3PFG record at UConn:

The Sniper's Quest for 1000 points
What are his chances at the UConn 3 pointer record?
He'll likely end up top 5, but #1 is tough.

Currently at 143 on his career (75 games with at least 20 left in the season). Rashad is first with 276 (130 games) and Shabazz second with 260 (143 games). Rip is fifth with 237.

For 3PFGA, Vital has 415. Rashad is first with 715 and Shabazz is second with 693.
Shockingly enough, CV is now at 198 made three-pointers in his career and the #1 spot is arguably within reach depending on how the rest of the season and next shake out:

1. Rashad Anderson - 276 3PFG (130 games)
2. Shabazz Napier - 260 (143 games)
3. Ben Gordon - 246 (106 games)
4. Chris Smith - 242 (127 games)
5. Rip Hamilton - 237 (103 games)
6. Ray Allen - 233 (101 games)
7. Rodney Purvis - 201 (102 games)
8. Ryan Boatright - 199 (128 games)
9. Christian Vital - 198 (95 games)
10. KEA - 195 (108 games)

Wow. Assuming he comes back next year, this seems really do-able. He has hit 78 3's this year and counting. Do that again next year, and he's got it.

Plus, gotta assume a CV three point shot is going to be one of our main offensive weapons next year. He would be the most proven scorer on that roster by far.

I am surprised Calhoun is on the list.

I think he ends up at 2nd or 3rd with more offensive weapons on the team next year. Just a gut feeling.

He's averaged 15/6/3 in conference on 40% from 3. I think if we were a top team in the conference, he would have been on an all-conference team. Certainly in the cards next year if he can continue to play like a dog and our team shows some much-needed growth.

There is no doubt Vital can shoot it very well. He can catch fire with the best of them.

AG 1st team, Carlton 2nd team, vital 3rd team next year. Book it.

Christian hitting 2.44 this year, so he's on track to pass Rashad by this metric and get into some elite company.

On a side note, Vital is shooting 42% from three this year. Way up from last season. You could actually consider him a “Sniper” like he likes to self proclaim

Does Vital have a "Sniper" tattoo yet? If not, he needs to get on that in the off-season.

I wonder who has the highest 3P MPG for a single season? Ray had 3.3 his last season. Would think that would probably be it.

Good for him. One more season like this, albeit that’s no guarantee as 42% is hard to replicate, and he’s #1. Pretty crazy.

It’s also worth mentioning that Vital leads the team in: WS, BPM, 3P%, DReb%, STL, FTM and FTA

The things he does well, he does very well.

On one hand, it's shocking, but on the other, with the way the game has developed at all levels, and given CV's complete lack of a conscience from behind the arc, I'm not all that surprised.

Pretty impressive to see where Purvis is on this list. I never saw him as a shooter, but he apparently made way more baskets than I thought. To be ahead of Lamb, Denham Brown, among others is quite a feat.

Pretty remarkable if you ask me.. When CV catches fire it truly is unreal to watch.
