Xavier for the last 20 years has been to 16 NCAA tournaments which includes, 3 elite 8s, and 7 Sweet 16s (4 seasons ended with a Sweet 16 + 3 Elite 8s.) St. Johns is obviously struggling overall, but they have been for quite a while in the grand scheme but they still have their moments. Since the formation of the NBE they have made the NCAA's twice. If they are one of your bottom programs, you're in business. Georgetown has been going through the coaching change, issues within the program and so on; however, they are a very relevant program and they are looking to much better overall in a couple of seasons, also fwiw in the last 30 years obviously they have been relevant multiple times. They have been to the NCAA tournament 8 times in 20 years and that includes when they were in the OBE including a Final Four run in 2006-2007. Marquette is a solid overall program. 12 NCAA appearances in the last 20 years to include the Final Four year with D-Wade as you mentioned, but during that stretch they also have an elite 8 and 3 sweet 16s. Butler is another very solid overall program. They have made the NCAA Tournament 13 times in the last 20 years and it would have been 14 last season. That stretch includes 5 sweet 16s, 2 elite 8s, 2 final fours, and 2 national runner ups. Even if we exclude a couple. Marquette, UConn, Xavier, Villanova, Butler, Creighton, and Georgetown have all been very relevant in that 30 year stretch. Providence has been very successful under Cooley, Seton Hall has been doing well, DePaul is improving quickly, and we'll see what becomes of St. Johns. If they are going to be a program that just handles its business good enough OOC to not hurt us, while making the NCAA's every 3-4 years that's fine. Also, obviously this is based on your definition of relevance, but I believe I am spot on here in regards to what many would consider relevant. Every program deals with issues. Look at us. No one is saying this is as good as the OBE, the majority of us are just saying this is a better situation for us compared to the AAC. We're also saying the NBE has potential to be very good. I don't think there will ever be a conference as good as the OBE was in basketball. That doesn't mean what I said isn't true... Any given season the NBE will have 2-3 title contenders, and 2-3 more NCAA teams. 4-6 pending the year. Also occasionally, we'll get a 7th in when things click. That is a very good basketball league.
