The Positive Side of Paige Moving on to the W...

I don't know how many Dallas games we'll get in CT. Maybe more this coming season than in the past.

It will be interesting to see if there is a Paige effect, that in any way resembles Caitlin's impact on the league. If there is, Dallas will not only draw more at home, but also significantly more on the road, have much more viewership and get more nationally televised games

My guess is there will be a significant Paige affect on the league, but i doubt if anyone will ever change the interest in the W as much as Caitlin did last year.

I am curious to see the impact Bueckers has on the Wings turnaround. On the men’s side the addition of Bird to the Celtics and Jordan to the Bulls dramatically turned those franchises into winners.

On the women’s side, Maya Moore turned the Lynx from bottom dwellers to champions in one year.

The Dallas arena holds less than 8000 fans. So far, they have moved one game, against Indiana of course, to the arena that the Mavs play in. I believe they are renovating another venue, but I don't know how many people it will hold. A lot of pressure on Paige, more than at UConn. The league is looking for the CC effect, so good luck to her, and I hope they give her a chance to fit in before haters come out of the woodwork.

Most haters out there just want to troll women's sports. They'll put out lazy talking points to stir the pot. Others will have a strong bias for their favourite player, no different than comments we see on this board and others. A lot of what will be put out there will need to be viewed from that lens.

WNBA League Pass is available for a nominal amount, and allows viewing of all games on replay, and many games live.

No amount of rationalizing could ever make up for how great it would be if Paige decided to come back for one more year. Of course, this is just my selfish egocentric opinion.

CC gets attention with her logo threes, but I have always liked Paige's game more. Plus Paige actually plays defense. ;-)

In the winter there was a fair amount of chatter from people who wanted Paige to push the Wings into trading the number 1. It is very quiet now it seems. That doesn't mean things aren't happening and it could get interesting.

Yeah, but according to one expert both have a build inadequate to the league. Funny huh.

If I were New York or Connecticut I'd offer some sort of bordering on ridiculous package for the #1 overall pick. Like 3 (or 4 or...) #1's, and anybody not named Stewart (including Ionescu), or a combination, and see what happens. First - why not? Second, besides the obvious, having Bueckers in New York would grow the sport exponentially over most of the other locations in The W. For NY (or CT), business wise it makes great sense, as well.

I get that it sounds silly, perposterous perhaps. Dallas would almost certainly knock them back, but, for me, worth at least kicking the tires. Of course, I thought this when Bird and Maya were drafted. But then again, I'm sure most would have thought doing what the Giants did to get Eli Manning was as well, and that kinda worked out...

With much of the nationwide sports news developed from local press, it's unfortunate that women's basketball is far down the list in Dallas. Having lived there for 10 years, it was rare to see a WNBA story anywhere. Don't remember any mention on TV. Maybe Paige, assuming this is where she goes, will change things.

It pains me to say this a bit, but you are probably right. What Clark did last year was amazing. She really energized the franchise and the league. It was, @diggerfoot suggested, analogous to win Larry Bird and Magic Johnson joined the NBA. It will be tough for Paige, or any player, to match that enormous impact.

That said, I'm sure Paige is going to have a huge impact in Dallas (if she actually ends up there, and, who knows, a trade is always possible) and a big impact on the WNBA as well. She is an exciting player who is fun to watch.

I may have to look into this. We have a WNBA watch group in Syracuse so I usually watch the games that way.

I will definitely be making at least one trip to a Sun game with a friend this summer. Hoping to get to Dallas[or whatever team Paige plays for]/Sun or Liberty/Sun game(s).

Clark energized the league like Bird and Johnson, but she did not turn around the Fever’s success as dramatically as Bird, Jordan or Maya Moore improved their teams’ records as freshmen. I’m curious if Bueckers can have that type of success at improving a team’s record from bottom to near the top.

Nice to see some realize the draft has not taken place yet. ;)
