is something that I have not been a fan of. But if coaches can bring in players, then I guess it's fair for players impacted by these transfers to use the portal to benefit themselves. Why not? Geno apparently sees no problem bringing players in. Since the portal is probably not going away anytime soon, and it's certainly a resource for coaches, guess it makes sense that players should use it as a resource, also. I hope you understand that I'm talking in general, not specific , situations here. I still think that the portal is not good for the game, but that's a different discussion.

The portal has always been there. It's the rules that have changed and made transferring easier and unlimited.
Obviously. The point is that players were much less likely to move on( probably including some UConn players) because they would lose a year. Not anymore. I'm thrilled to see Ines, Saylor and Q playing the game again

This is exactly correct. In today's NCAA, athletes enjoy 100% free agency at the conclusion of every season; transfer as many times as they have eligibility to play. Couple that with Universities and Boosters being allowed to pay the 'non-professional student athletes' and it is a disaster overall in my opinion. But it is not going away.

Agree. Plus, I think, overall, UConn has crushed it with portal pickups. I am not overly concerned anymore with recruiting or departures because even though we won't ever know for sure, the list of portal kids that want to come to UConn is lengthy. Most players have dreams of playing in the W. Success at UConn provides a clear path to reach that goal.

McClean is also playing and doing well.
