He wanted out of Boston after the way he was treated by Henry, Cherington and now Brewslow and Henry wanted to be free of the contract before the ink was dry on the extension.  If management had just traded him in the off-season, even before the Bregman signing, when the first rumblings of Devers wanting out started, they could have gotten much more.  Then after the Casas injury, he said no to moving and for whatever reason they began a publicity war with Devers to try to shame him into playing first.  All it did was hurt Devers trade value.
Devers could have handled this much better, but so could have the fools in the front office.  I give a little slack to the guy who, yes is uneducated, but has been playing baseball fulltime since  before he was 16 years old.  What is the excuse for Henry, Cherington and Breslow.
Henry went from an owner ahead of his time in 2004, now to being light years behind and damaging what was one of the premier franchises in MLB.
