Chandler has some good skills. A good arm. Nice accuracy. Good pocket presence.
One area I noticed where he needs a lot of work is putting air under the ball. Take the TD to Griffin. It was thrown on a rope. Great throw in that situation.
However, often there is a LB underneath on that play. There was one in the NC State game (opposite side of course). This calls for the QB to loft the ball over the LB and have the receiver gather under the ball. The low liner against NC State was an INT. Great play by the LB. But it would have been an impossible play with a little air under the ball.
At this point, I think this is the biggest liability in CW's game. Touch is more than easing up on short throws. It helps the QB throw the ball up to put receivers in a position to go get it. That would have helped Davis late in the WMU game.
I'm not complaining. CW has been a huge upgrade at QB. I'm merely pointing out what I believe is the next necessary step in his maturation.
