I lean toward #1 and the conferences sit back a take a deep breath before continuing the circus.

That is what the WVU board is hoping and praying for, but the way I see it, there are at least 4 and maybe more ACC teams that the SEC and maybe more importantly CBS would prefer.

The SEC has survived quite well with some small market teams based on tradition and a strong reputation that a team like WVU brings, but at some point they have to step back and ask what a .500 WVU team would produce in a tough SEC. In addition, they have spent so much time bragging about the academic standing of A&M, do they immediately lower the academic bar for WVU?

The teams I see the SEC preferring over WVU are the obvious (FSU, Clemson, Virginia Tech), the not so obvious (NC State, Ga Tech) and even a team like Maryland would seemingly have more of an appeal.
