Interesting quote from Stewie in the New Britain Herald newspaper, titled

Jefferson’s defense becoming another weapon for UConn women's basketball

“What makes Mo so effective is even if she’s smaller, her quickness will frustrate anyone,” UConn All-American Breanna Stewart said. “She makes the person she’s guarding frustrated and they don’t want to play anymore. Once you got the mental part of them out of the game, the physical part follows quick.”

It is amazing how some people think there is no connection (or deny) between the body and the mental and let's also include the most important part of all - the spiritual!

Seems like many people who draft the pros (NFL, NBA, even the NHL and MLB) put a lot of their eggs (if not all in many cases) on the physical. The same with big time college recruits. The physical is king and the mental is secondary for many of these decision makers. Is there an obvious connection for these people? Too weak in many cases and too much "Jimmy Crack Corn." Brawn speaks louder. Of course, there are those who take the "beast" and take a chance on any connection to the mental. Maybe it's me, but their actions don't speak like they see the connection.

The field of study(mind-body interaction) is called Psychoneuroimmunolgy.

Not the NFL, they use the Wonderlic Test during the Combine.

Was going to disagree along the same lines - the NFL draft is always rife with players dropping down boards because of 'heart' issues which in this context is the same as 'mind' - it comes out as different things like 'his motor' or 'seems to take plays off'. There are always a few surprise performers at the combine that rise because of physical measurements, but there are a lot more players who fall because of their 'performance' in interviews, or because of the dreaded 'off field issues'.

I'm thinking the Cleveland Browns are ruing not paying more attention to this!
