I'm going. Who else is making the trip?
Let's be honest with ourselves. Rutgers has beaten nobody. Arkansas blows(sorry Dan). Yes, they've been more impressive than us, but they're not even close to being worldbeaters.
And Nick Williams owns Rutgers.

I admitted as much about Arkansas, but they are still a top25 team for a reason. It's a very big game coming up. And I'm hoping we hit Snookie in the mouth...
In the FCS Arkansas might be in the top 25
Rutgers is in the top 25 because they played no one. Just a quirk of scheduling.
Rutgers is in the top 25 because they are undefeated. Also, the win against USF doesn't look as bad anymore considering that USF played a similar game against Florida State.
NoThey are undefeated due to a scheduling quirk, so therefore it's a scheduling quirk. USF had to go west and come back on short rest after an emotional win. Arkansas turned into a dumpster fire. They beat Tulane and Howard.
The rankings are idiotic. The fact that Rutgers is ranked right now means nothing. They are ranked because the schedule played out in their favor.
I will make this question clear since you generally miss my point: Do you think Rutgers is one of the 25 best teams in the country?
I will make my answer clear. I do not think Rutgers is one of the 25 best teams.

Rutgers is undefeated because they have won every game on their schedule to this point. It's not just that they've won, but it's also the fashion in which they've won. They are a solid team with what looks to be an extremely good defense and a more than competent quarterback in Nova, not to mention a pretty good running back combo in Jamison and Huggins.
So I will make my answer clear. Yes, I think Rutgers is one of the 25 best teams.
Good thing we'll see. Rutgers is a paper tiger - propped up by what turned out to be an awful schedule. The way they won the games? Ha. Arkansas and Tulane hung with them. They get blown out by everyone else.
And yet they have the 20th defense in the country and their QB has an average of a 145 QB rating.
I hope we make it look like it's not true next week, since I'm a UConn fan and not a Rutgers fan. But if we win, it will mean that in my opinion (and again, in the opinions of the coaches and writers) that UConn beat a top 25 team...
The numbers aren't corrected for competition. They mean nothing with no context.
You hit on your point. You just want UConn to beat a team ranked in the Top 25 - you don't really care if that team is really one of the 25 best.
You seem to value the coaches poll. You do realize that either the coaches aren't voting or if they are there is no way their opinion could be valid because there is no way for them to actually watch games and judge what teams are good right?
You are ridiculous, you do know that, right?
1) Yes, I want to beat a team in the top25, and I care if they are one of the 25th best. That will support my argument of UConn having beaten a top25 team, right?
2) When the coaches poll mimics the AP poll for the most part, then whether you blame the coaches or the media for the ranking is irrelevant, right?
3) Do you believe that the Big East deserves anyone in the top25? By the way you're acting, I'm guessing not.
I would love to see your top25 as you see them, so that I can make sure that you aren't being "revisionist" when the year is over...
I do not care about the polls in any way shape or form. I understand how they work, and they have almost nothing to do with identifying the best teams in the country - or even finding the teams that have played the best. If they were trying to find the 25 best teams or resumes to date, Louisiana Tech wouldn't be an afterthought after week 5. A team like LSU is #3/#4 based on nothing more than expectations - schools like Notre Dame, Oregon State and Kansas State have been much more impressive and have much better resumes. There is someone voting in the coaches' poll who thinks LSU is #1.
As for the Big East If I were to identify the 25 best teams in the country, without actually doing the work, based on the evidence to date I'd say that Cincinnati would be around 18 and Louisville would be around 25.
Look, I agree with you on the stance that certain teams get more recognition than they deserve, while others get less (like a La Tech). Which end of that spectrum do you think the Big East teams are on? I know what I would say the answer is, and because of that answer, it is harder for us to get a team in the top 25 than the other Big Six teams. So when a team like Rutgers makes it, it is in my opinion because they have shown a product on the field that has merited it. Let me put it another way; if Cincy beats a team like Purdue instead of a team like Va Tech (with more national recognition), do you think they would be ranked this week? I don't. And that's unfair, because as you've stated, they are probably the best team in the Big East right now...
Since it only matters at the top of the poll at the end of the year - I'll cry a river for a Big East team that gets screwed then. With 3 teams ranked right now it's hard to say there is bias. Rutgers can go 9-0 without breaking a sweat and will move up the polls based on nothing but their record.
