"Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy told the Associated Press that he had stayed out of the fight until now, but finds the decision to reject the waiver request “absolutely outrageous.” He is calling on the NCAA to allow UConn and any other schools facing sanctions a chance to show that their current student athletes qualify for the tournament.

“It’s as if they’ve decided to get UConn, one way or the other,” he said. “UConn should have done a better job. But in point of fact, they are doing a better job. The results are already there. You know, grade the test.”

Dannel's got his Irish up. Thems is fightin words!
Though besides applying pressure, not sure what the state government could do to alter anything.

It is time for our senators/house reps to start a congressional investigation. The NCAA is no different than the NFL. The NFL can be investigated for decisions that they make, and so can the NCAA. I want to see them forced to explain, under oath, what their reasons for not allowing UConn's appeal compared to other schools. I want to hear them answer to someone with more power than them.

I'll like him more if he actually does something about it instead of just issuing a presumably empty statement.
Well the ruling came down a few hours ago so he put a statement out right away which is better than silence. I imagine that he's getting legal advice to see if anything can be effectively done. What should he have said?

Well at least one BC guy is fighting for Uconn

Aw, CTEagle - that's so kind of you. It's nice to see a rival fan put aside the differences and recognize injustice, and be there to support us in our low point. You're alright in my book!!!

I mean, I guess he said the right thing for now. I'm just taking the wait-and-see approach before I laud him. If he's proactive on the issue, he'll forever have my vote.

I am recognizing injustice. The injustice that we CT taxpayers are funding a sham institution.

I have not been a fan of this Gov, but he makes sense here. The best approach is to focus on how the student athletes have been disadavantaged by this unfairness. Giving them a choice to uproot their academics program and take it elsewhere is not a serious alternative.

Just keep in mind Emmert newly appointed Chief of Compliance came from the corrupt organization of Freddie Mac.

There is a lot of stuff sitting in a holding pattern - ready to be dumped on Emmert. The question is - do you wait until the reporting time cycle for APR is ruled on or do you do it now - I say dump it now - but it is not my call.

I am glad that he said it. But I'd rather he be showing his outrage for ESPN taking Connecticut taxpayer money and then doing things that hurt UConn, where he has power and options, than here where there is not anything he can do but complain.
