Cal is not only facing the greatest women’s basketball program in NCAA history on Saturday at Haas Pavilion, but the most successful college basketball program overall.

UConn has won more NCAA titles in the sport — men and women combined — than any school in the country. Coach Geno Auriemma’s women have captured 11 crowns, but the Huskies also own four men’s titles, giving them a total of 15 national championships in the sport.

Cal Women's Basketball: The Game's Greatest Program Pays a Visit to Berkeley - Cal Bears Maven

Goes on to list the schools with the most championships in men's and women's basketball combined.

UConn: 15 - Men (4): 1999, 2004, 2011, 2014; Women (11): 1995, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016

No other school in the country has produced multiple national titles by both the men and women. UConn stands alone.

I love Hurley's approach. I think it is similar to Geno's, excellence in all aspects. I feel reasl good about winning #5 at some point with Hurley running the show.

Got me to lookin' at the record...

NC's in Mens BB

UCLA.........11.. (wow..they had a run)

Kentucky.....8

UNC..6, Duke..5, UConn..4, Indiana..4, Kansas..3

I knew Wooden had great teams at UCLA...but nine national championships in a ten year period is unlikely to be seen again.

If they go back to paying player salaries again, you might see schools do it.
