14 years later, that's still great.

Still surprises me that he got a little heat for that comment.

The only bad thing about being at the actual game was driving home that night through the next day and missing all the festivities that night on campus and the welcome home pep rally... but damn being at that game was as special as it gets for me.

For a guy who often mumbled and who rambled through twisted knots of speech during interviews, I think he nailed it perfectly there.

Never noticed that it started at 4:20.

Good omen.

Still get goosebumps watching that. Thanks for posting.

If there was one guy you had to go to war with him on your side, I'm pretty sure this is the right guy.

Funny how he put Ray in that group of 1990 players though.

Well, the best was when he bear hugged Ray sayin' "We did it Ray!!!!" so I am sure that was in his mind somewhere.

99 was the team where so many players were crucial to the success. Rip, Jake, Khalid, kFree, Ricky, Rash, Edmund, Soulymane, ... we needed every one of them to win, and they all came through.

Good point, very true.

Nothing will ever beat '99.

It was the perfect sporting event. Any championship is great, but there are certain types that are even more special.

1) Winning for the first time/ending a long drought - check
2) Beating a rival/hated opponent - check
3) Pulling an upset as a heavy underdog (by conventional wisdom) - check
4) Heavy drama coming right down to the wire, creating instant euphoria - check

We hit them all in one game.

The closest things are Miracle On Ice and Red Sox comeback over Yankees. But neither won championships. Jets over Colts didn't have the rivalry or the dramatic finish.
