I guess everyone is over how 'bad' this year's first round games were. If I'm the SEC/BIG I change nothing. Your top teams are always getting the byes and your "lesser" teams are getting first round home games or a pass into the playoffs altogether. The SEC/BIG really only need to decide yes/no on three things. 1. Expand to 16? (Yes because money, end the talking point about the bye as a competitive disadvantage) 2. No auto-byes and Re-seeding after 1st round (They will to protect their top teams, but it really shouldn't matter if you are truly a top team.) 3. How to game the selection process formula to assure athletes desirable outcome (this was happening anyway) The one thing they should consider but won't is shortening the season so the NCG is closer to NYD. That would require 1. Starting the season earlier (Week 0 is now Week 1) 2. Fewer regular season games (LOL) 3. Fewer bye weeks (certainty) 4. Academic Finals? What Finals? If CCGs and selection Sunday are first weekend in Dec <7th First round is <Dec 14 Finals week is <Dec 21 Quarterfinals are <Dec 28th Semis are depending on year between Dec 31 and Jan 4th, though TV will tweak the QF so that these games are on NYE/NYD. That puts the finals no later than the Monday a week after NYD.
