What is the point of ESPN3 any more? If you don't have local cable its uselesss... everything is blacked out all the time. I recall ESPN playing games exclusively on ESPN3 to strong arm the internet companies into buying their package. Now that the cable companies are on board everything is blacked out all the time. Really starting to hate that network.

I'll be honest, as an "out of market" fan, I love being able to see every game. We in the Boston area actually get SNY minus the Mets games but the picture is awful, it is only available in standard def. Watching on my phone, ipad, or laptop is 100x better.

Except for tonight. The feed keeps resetting, jumping back, the video quality has been awful. I saw the opening jump 4 times and it keeps going back to the previous media timeout . Frustrating as hell tonight.

Went to 1080 to listen to the game... "Due to contract restrictions games are no longer streamed at wtic.com. To listen via stream click here. Read More "

When 1080 denies fans ... O WAIT.......ahhhh the smell of greed...

In our case, ESPN is blacking out games at the request of the university. It's an attempt to get people to go to the games.

Are you sure? I thought ESPN3 is blacked out only in areas that have SNY free on their local cable systems. It's part of the deal not to steal viewers from SNY.

I am not a patron of any cable company (Dish Network, which doesn't offer SNY in any package, and DSL), yet I cannot watch. I bitched, I complained, fell on deaf ears. Turns out the school is behind it afterall. They aggressively shut down all "free" access. Gotta pay somehow. I was told, in my situation, I should go to the games. I kid you not.

As a fan living in NYC without cable, I can tell you ESPN3 is complete crap. Every game blacked out. Even a lot of non-UConn games that look halfway interesting. And by the way...Chicago had access to the game tonight. Care to explain that one?

Living in NC it's great. It comes in crystal clear on my iPad.

Wrong. 10000% wrong. ESPN3 is blacked out as SNY owns the exclusive TV rights in their territory.

WTIC is "blacked out" online due to IMG owning the rights. We gained satellite radio access, but lost online.

Exactly. The University is contracted to those two outlets. They pay the university a pretty hefty premium for those rights with the intent of making back their $$, hence the restrictions. UConn is out of the loop.

Also as an "out if market" fan living in Los Angeles, ESPN3 is a great option for me. Without it, I wouldn't be able to watch 3/4 of our games.

That's what I thought. How could UConn just tell ESPN not to have the game on ESPN3? Mr. Wonderful posted like he knew the inner workings.

Game is blacked out in Colorado. that makes sense.

It was probably on Altitude. They usually carry UConn games.
