UConn standout Napheesa Collier for women’s basketball player of the year? The race is wide open

With a few weeks left in the regular season, the college women's basketball player of the year race is wide open.​

​

Take your pick. There's a little bit of something for everyone with talented post players, guards and wings.​

​

Usually at this point in the season, there's a clear-cut choice for player of the year. Sometimes it seems as if the top player in the country is almost a forgone conclusion — even before the season starts.​

​

That definitely isn't the case this season.​

1. I’m not sure it’s exactly “wide-open”. Some voters im sure made up their mind much earlier this year with the “Triple-Double Queen”

2. I’d put Lou on this list before Alanna Smith.

3. Only way Ionescu doesn’t win is if Oregon loses again, she plays poorly & Collier or Gustafson have a crazy end of the year.

At this point it looks to be:
1. Ionescu
2. Collier
3. Gustafson

I’d be surprised if Collier were 2nd. I think it’s ionescu.
With Gustafson Kalani Arike as the top competition.
