For the home games I've seen on tv this year I don't think sustained chants were done. Is this the result of expecting too much? When I was in Storrs I witnessed teams go 5-19, 14-10, 10-14 and 8-17. The game was always an event, greatly appreciated with the Field House packed with 4,600+ and the 25- 50 cent student ticket was all good. Nothing was expected, but the chant was always there. It led a few times to surprising results like the slowdown 32-29 win over URI to take a conf. crown with only five players available or the night a weak home team upset an NCAA bound Rutgers squad to send them to the NIT with the home crowd having a little fun chanting "NIT, NIT, ......" everytime Rutgers approached their offensive hoop in the second half.

I guess the three NCAA and one NIT titles plus all the conf. accolades create the perceived lower crowd support. After what I saw in person in the Field House I still don't believe UCONN holds all these titles. It's a miracle. Maybe for the cincy game the fanatical & success starved & hungry home crowd of the past could make a guest appearance. Maybe more gestalt and less schadenfreude.

Don't the cheerleaders initiate these chants? I thought that was their function.

The best chants are always initiated by students in the front rows, cheerleaders then may hop in. But I agree it seems like our chants are down this year. Now more than ever do we need to return to our roots of making home games an event so this is definitely a concern

We had some Let's go Huskies chants going last night at the Sun dome..lots of UConn fans. I'd say 35-40%

Were you at the game? Or just watching on TV? If you were watching then all I can say is that TV didn't pick up the chants because there were plenty of them--we started some--we joined in others many times

I was at the game. Not much to cheer in the first half. Second half UConn fans were much more vocal.
