Yes, there is a buzz. Not just beer induced either. In the past 2 weeks I have seen and felt a dramatic increase in the excitment about:
#1 the stadium upgrades - People who werent interested in going to the first game are now interested to se what the new stadium has to offer. I also think that they/we will see a good game.

#2 the team: With the addition and implimentation of Connecticut players, the hype surrounding the recieving core, and interest in seeing if our O-Line can bounce Towson back off the line. There is a lot of interest to see how we fair.

#3 Tailgating: Getting back to it. It is always a draw and we have outstanding facilities for it.

If this team goes out and wins a bunch of games I strongly believe that UCONN Football will be prevalant in the state and surrounding areas. The buzz will continue to grow. If they fail to have a winning season and have dynamic offense and defense then this opportunity to create something really special again may be lost for the time being.

Your thoughts?

I'm getting excited about this season. Some good games on the schedule. More than a buzz, exactly, what I'm getting is more real curiosity, especially regarding the offense and a sense that people really want to get excited but after two straight painfully dull seasons just aren't sure they will. I think a solid game, with a good bit of offense would have a big impact.

hate to say it but I'm not feeling it among casual fans. People here are stoked for various reasons (TJ, defense, new scoreboard, etc) but UConn football for the time being is tied to PP in the public's mind and there's zero buzz surrounding him (in fact could make case he's a buzz-killer). Only an offensively impressive win over Maryland will have an impact. Repeat the same feat against Michigan and the sky's the limit.

A non-convincing win tomorrow - or obviously a loss - kills whatever we may have or think we have. Regardless of Towson, we have to get a W on the Terds. Then we're set up for MI. Unless we get whooped, the momentum to make something out of this year will be there to build on.

I believe a solid win on Thursday will get the buzz going, and the Maryland night game with Edsall returning will generate some buzz of its own. Win the first two and display a decent offense and we'll have some major buzz for Michigan.

On target. PP = buzz kill (three years and counting now). HOWEVER . . . . that third year is yet to be determined. The sudden emergence of a "real live, actual touchdown scoring" offense . . . the win over Maryland and . . . . a milestone victory over Michigan and, yes, the sky is the limit.

I think there is a good chance tomorrow is the smallest announced attendance in Rentschler history. Hopefully I'm way off.

WE seem to always draw well on the first night for bad opponents. I think it is pent up football withdrawal. We drew better for UMass than we did for NC State. I didn't understand that at all

Not sure a win of any kind against Towson will generate too much buzz. I do think that there is some buzz over Maryland, and there is definitely some for Michigan. Towson is expected to be a W and if its not it will absolutely hurt. But win both the next two games and there will be a very big shot in the arm for the program. though the schedule does them no favors with all the bye weeks and away games. tough to build momentum among the fans when you only have 1 home game in 6 weeks after Michigan. I'd have much preferred to play Memphis on October 5 than on Pearl Harbor Day. If the team is looking pretty good with a big upset, you really would prefer not to be on the road or off 5 of the next 6 weeks. Nice job Warde.

Unlikely. The mini pack deal will lead to bigger numbers for Maryland, Ville and Rutgers and less for Towson, UCF and Memphis.

Sorry, I was being a funny guy. If we get 28k for Maryland, I'll buy up my AAC conference t-shirts and misc swag and settle on in.

Fairly confident Maryland will travel OK - not to Michigan level, but respectable. Know of several Terp friends/fans who are comming.
