Greatest TV Show of All-Time Tournament

It's simple. I love TV, you probably like TV. I want you to give me a list of up to 10 of your absolute favorite TV Shows. I will collect everyone's data, from that, seed them based on your rankings and then generate a bracket with hopefully some interesting regions and pairings. From there we will have the Boneyard vote until we have an ultimate winner.

You don't have to give me 10 selections, the more the better but as many as you deem worthy is just fine. There are no wrong answers, if it happens that As The World Turns faces off against Flavor of Love in the final then so be it. I will collect answers until next Tuesday and then by the weekend I will probably (maybe?) start the pairings.

Vote submission form, have fun!

If you have not seen Fawlty towers you are missing out big time. Just twenty episodes but some of the best comedy this world has ever known, go seek it out.

I entered Fawlty towers, curb your enthusiasm, seinfeld, Futurama, king of the hill, Sherlock (UK), bobs burgers, Daria, hey Arnold and breaking bad.

Malcom in the middle, wonder years, Chappelle show, skins (UK),Doug and Pete & pete could all easily be up there too but miss out and are more top 25.

Simpsons has been hurt by nearly twenty years of poor episodes and redundancy...yawn.

Not much of a TV watcher overall, but made it a point to watch all of the following

UConn basketball
Simpsons (OK, not so much in the past 15 years)
Seinfeld
Arrested Development
Mad Men
Sopranos
Mary Tyler Moore
The Office (still much unseen)
All in the Family
thirtysomething

BTW, I'm told that the correct answer is The Wire, but I haven't gotten to it yet, while suspecting it may well be. And haven't seen enough of South Park to put it on the list, but suspect it might also rate. There are lots of Honorable Mentions that I'm expecting to see on others' lists.

Rules question @Mano

I’ve seen Band of Brothers listed here, and it’s objectivley great television, but it’s a mini series not a tv show. Does it count?

I am counting Band of Brothers as a mini-series. Not a TV show.

Friends
Seinfeld
Star Trek The Next Generation
Game of Thrones
Justified
Sopranos
Deadwood
Black Sails
Supernatural
Sherlock
Dr. Who
Cheers
Miami Vice

Damn left Miami Vice off my official submission. It should have been on there.

I have over 300 different TV shows on DVD. My first criterion is do I re-watch with some regularity.

I can't remember the exact order of my initial selections, but in order my first 3 were West Wing, The Wire, and Dead Like Me. The rest of my top ten are: The Americans, Foyle's War, Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, Cheers, Band of Brothers, and NYPD Blue.

Since it was an option, I posted an additional ten. Grimm topped that list having just missed the first list. Among the others are: Smash, The Bridge, Lonesome Dove, Fargo, Game of Thrones, Life, Last Kingdom, and Tinker Tailor.

I will enter no more lists, but several other series I hold in high regard are: The Dresden Files, Alias, Homicide, The Border, China Beach, Deadwood, Lie to Me, X Files, Eli Stone, and Winds of War.

10 I submitted:

Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
Sopranos
Parks and Recreation

Miami Vice
Lost
Futurama

So close:

30 Rock
Deadwood
Leftovers
Halt and Catch Fire
Freaks and Geeks
Friends
Wonder Years
The Americans
The Office
Simpsons (would have made it if the show ended 10-15 years ago).

Note: Haven't watched The Wire yet so can't add it just yet. But obviously most everyone loves it.
