Recruiting regions aren't remotely similar when comparing Temple to us. An hour drive (with traffic) in any direction from Temple's campus covers better recruiting territory than a four hour drive from Storrs (also with traffic). -------------- This season to date has been disheartening as hell but part of me is thinking this would be a bit easier to take if last season had one or two fewer wins. Our (comparative) success last year included a handful of things going our way and a good amount of energy arriving after the Michigan/NC St road gauntlet. In all candor, what we saw Saturday against Duke wasn't all that different from what we saw a year ago against Syracuse and this year's Duke squad is a better team than Cuse was last year. It is beyond disappointing that our OL appears to have taken a step backwards. It is beyond disappointing that our WR's look as limited as they have looked and it is beyond disappointing that our QB play may be as bad as it has been since the upgrade more than two decades ago. I don't get the massive step backwards, especially as there appeared to be significant reason to believe a few of the position groups would be noticeably better than they were last year and reason to believe no group would be worse. I don't get what happened to out OLine or DLine. I don't get what happened to our LBs, DBs or WRs. I'm at a loss. What gets me more than anything is that against NC St, for the most part we looked like we belonged. If we did a better job of tackling, especially when their QB ran, we wouldn't have had to worry about the PI calls that never should have been called and we would have won the game. It seems that the loss there took out our heart. I just don't get it.
