Can't disagree with that! ;) But in keeping with my ongoing semi-rant against media and so-called fans(UConn and non-UConn) who are hell bent on trashing the university's and the program's reputation to one degree or another including some who think we are damaged beyond repair, I have to say that a few things need to be remembered(not the least of which is that JC ain't goin' nowhere!). We don't cheat or willfully flaunt the rules for the sake of wins. The NCAA, for anybody who is really being honest, is a useless,self-absorbed organization whose days are numbered.

We lost some players. Two to the draft; and others, imo, who lost sight of the definition of loyalty. The NBA is littered with players who none of us ever heard of who are getting minutes(in some cases big minutes) and making nice money. Anybody who thinks the 32 games don't count and getting to The Dance is going to make their chances for a contract is a fool. And this program, like the phoenix, will rise again. There is absolutely no doubt about that. I "borrowed" a couple of things from Wikipedia to underline the impact of this program on the world of college basketball. Are you recruits out there payin' attention?! Fans too?!

Impact on the NBA

Since the 1990s, UConn has been recognized as being a consistent pipeline for players to enter the National Basketball Association. During the 2006–2007 season, there were an NBA-high 14 former Huskies on active rosters. During the 2008-2009 season that number was 13,[5] with three current UConn players expected to be taken during the 2009 NBA draft.
  • The 2006 Draft class was notable for tying the record of most first-round picks from one school, with four. With five players drafted in the two rounds, UConn tied for the second-most ever taken in an NBA draft.[6]
  • Two players (Clifford Robinson, 1992–93, and Ben Gordon, 2004–05) have been winners of the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award.
  • Emeka Okafor was the winner of the 2004–05 NBA Rookie of the Year Award.
  • Ray Allen was the winner of the 2002–03 NBA Sportsmanship Award, and is the NBA all-time leader in 3-point field goals made.
  • Five players (Scott Burrell, 1997–98, Travis Knight, 1999–2000, Richard Hamilton, 2003–04, Ray Allen, 2007–08, and Caron Butler, 2010–11) have won NBA championships.

I believe JC has 873 wins. Fwiw.

That means when he hits the sidelines next season, he will be 3 wins away from tying rupp and 6 wins away from tying smith. Assuming things aren't even worse than we fear they might be (and we don't get more than 6 wins next season), that means JC will pass those milestones under a black cloud of negative commentary.

Is it that much different, unfortunately, than what happened when Boeheim passed them this past year? I don't seem to recall there being much fanfare.
