I thought we was taking a step back having to go play in this league. Ever since Shabazz last year we pretty much has been the cinference doormat it feels. We lose alot of games to teams we as fans didnt want to be associated with conference-wise. This has bee a very humbling experience for this Uconn fan.

We dont get exposure in this league and the Uconn name doesnt mean what it used to, to kids in highschool. So unfortunately unless we start dominating, we are stuck here for the foreseable future

Exactly, nobody even knows we suck. Most have never even heard of this conference and the ones who have could care less. We suck but being a total outlier from all the other teams in the conference has hurt us terribly.

Half of “Uconn Nation” doesn’t care about conference play and it shows. They don’t even know who half the teams are so how can you expect to get great attendance for these games. They can’t even fill up Gampel anymore because the fan base out there has just dwindled every year we stay in this conference. I don’t really want to drop football to go to the Big East. But I care a hell of a lot more about basketball than football.

Its crazy to see that we are basically a .500 team in league play. When the league was formed, many of us, including myself thought we were going to be an east coast version of Gonzaga. That has not been the case at all. I think Hurley can lead us out of this, but we have a lot of ground to make up.

Fanbase is more disengaged because Uconn has been losing miserably over past 4 years. That starts to take a toll. Conference is a convenient excuse, but it doesn’t affect the women’s team nor teams like Wichita State, Cincinnati and even Houston. We can't keep making excuses like this. We didn't play a road game until after first semester, and while it's tougher today because the good old days of charters are gone due to the financial problems, it's semester break and they don't fly in just before game time. Plus, they're 18 to 23 year old kids.
