Alexa Philippou digs out the data to demonstrate this team now is among the worst Husky teams with the 3. Bar graphs and other stuff.
“We’ve been working hard to consistently shoot 3s and make them,” Williams said after UConn went 10-for-18 against Xavier. “We’ve been putting in the work, so they’re going to fall at some point.”
Realistically, this UConn team doesn’t have the DNA to be an exquisite 3-point shooting team à la the 2014-15 or 2019-20 editions. But there’s no doubt they need Williams and Makurat to be more consistent, for Bueckers to take more shots and for Westbrook to contribute regularly.
One thing’s for sure, though: With the recruits UConn is bringing in this fall — Azzi Fudd, Caroline Ducharme and Saylor Poffenbarger are great outside shooters — the Huskies’ shooting woes aren’t likely to last beyond this season."
