The 111 game winning streak

I was perusing through the Stevie teams, trying to remind myself just how good the best UConn teams were.

Man oh man were we stacked in Stewie’s last two years. For example 2024/15: Stewie, MoJeff and Tuck as juniors; KML and Kiah as seniors; Kia Nurse and Gabby as freshmen. Holy crap!

Some fascinating trivia about the streak. Over a period of 209 games encompassing the 111 game streak, we lost three times. All three were in OT. One of those losses was in the semis of the F4, so winning the next game was not a given. But you could argue that we came close to a 210 game winning streak.

The trip down memory lane also reminded me how much heartache there was between 2016 and 2025. Two OT losses in the F4 and then not long after, the brutal run of injuries. No wonder the romp through the tournament last year felt so cathartic!

Winning streaks are nice, I’d like more of them but what we really want is 13, 14, 15…..! I don’t care if we lose 10 games every year, if we can just end up playing the last two games like we did last season! (I realize the 10 game thing isn’t likely to happen) Having said that, I’m sure enjoying this current streak!

This team for 25/26 and the team for 26/27 has the ABILITY and DESIRE to chase after the 111 record win streak that now exists.With GENO/CHRIS and the other outstanding coaches at Uconn. it is POSSIBLE!!!!! I stress again that players and stats do not impress me with the other teams as , Uconn FOR YEARS , past and present, has the UNEQUALLED DEFENSE put together by one team in memory.. Those stats don't exist when they play Uconn. Looking forward to a fantastic year and HAQPPY NEW YEAR to all Bone Yarders. GO HUSKIES!!!!!
