Texas Coach Karen Aston's Longhorns are 10-0, ranked 5/6 AP/USA Today, and seeking to rebuild a legacy including a perfect season in 1986 under Jody Conrad. [No mention here of Jody or a sub-.500 Big 12 record compiled by Goestenkors 2007-08 to 2011-12]. Assistant Tina Thompson, WBA All-Star & career scoring leader works with post players. A renascence underway? Despite a real drubbing by UConn in March 2015?

Props to the Longhorns. Unfortunately, for us, this increases our competition when it comes to recruiting in the Lone Star state.

When I visit my son in New Braunfels, I go up to watch the women play basketball because there is no problem getting seats. They have improved since last year and have some hustle players, But, they cannot compete with UConn. They have height but it is slow and tires quickly. Couple of nice guards that are a work in process. I was there to watch the Stanford game.

When you watch UConn women and the clips from the Geno show over the years, you really can see the regimen and the way the UConn coaches teach the young folks how to play the game with precision. I have often thought that when seeing some of the folks playing on other teams, that Geno and company, could turn these other players into "great" players" if they were willing to learn. I guess that this may be the difference.

I think Texas is going to be in the top 5 for quite a few years to come. Their facilities are second to none and Aston is a good coach and recruiter.
