I'm excited for baseball and softball. Commissioner Sankey has already talked about the stupidity of limiting those two sports to 11.7 and 12 scholarships respectively. All indications are that he intends to tell the NCAA to pound sand and authorize SEC teams to give up to 27 (roster size) scholarships annually. Thus, every player on the roster will have a free ride. To me, the NCAA limitations have had a racist effect even if there was no racist intent. It was more beneficial for low income minority kids to go to the minors and kick around for four years than to go to college where they have the chance to earn degrees that are much more valuable than a short minor league career.. White, middle class players have dominated NCAA baseball for years. Texas and Oklahoma are strong baseball programs. Add them to this-century national champions, LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Florida, Vanderbilt etc and you have a super strong league that creates alot of Big Leaguers - with college degrees. A legion of minor leaguers come from these schools - with degrees or many hours toward degrees. Add income from name, image, likeness, and college baseball might not be so lily white anymore.
