14. Washington?
22. "Say goodbye" (gladys knight?)
24. To start going downhill (event/item is past its prime)- From Happy Days, when Fonzie did the act in question, marking the downward spiral of the show.

14. Washington
17. Dern
18. Not sure about Bluesbreakers, but I'll go with Eric Clapton
24. When a TV show (or now anything) starts on it's downhill slide. Originated with Happy Days when Fonzi actually "Jumped the Shark" (on skis, with his leather jacket on). There is (or was) a website that described when most shows Jumped the Shark. As another example The Brady Bunch "jumped the shark" when Cousin Oliver arrived.
25. to sleep. Used to use it when I worked mids.

16. Based on "Shadows" and "Bunch", I'd guess Four Tops, but they had more than 5 hits.

14 is indeed Washington. Henry Lee, aka Light Horse Harry Lee, served with Washington and fathered Robert E. Lee, IIRC.

15. Montgomery Ward
16. the Four Tops. 7 Rooms of Gloom, Shake Me Wake Me, Walk Away Renee, Standing in the Shadows of Love. I am not sure of the song with the "bunch" title, but I Can't Help Myself has a continuing refrain of "sugar pie honey bun(could easily be bunch, but I never heard the "ch" sound in the lyrics and honey buns were,(might still be), a very popular confection in the 60's).
17. Derns
21. He is from Argentina so I will assume he is an ethnic Argentine.
22. Be the first to say goodbye - Gladys Knight & The Pips
23. Bracciosaurs
25. To induce sleep

[]14 Which led to the witticism; "Washington; first in war, first in peace, last in the American League".

15.. A&P mebbe?

17..Dern?

18..Slow Hand Clapton

19.. like a fish needs a bicycle.

24..A last-ditch pathetic effort to survive that is obviously (excpt to the perp) doomed to failure. Comes from the Fonz jumping a shark as Happy Days sank slowly in the West.

14..006 conducts the sextet with Gorgeous George. Gorgeous? Didn't he have wooden teeth?

15..VAUC gets locked in a Montgomery Ward store, just when he was about to upgrade to 8-track.

16..VAUC ambitiously names all those 4 Tops tunes. He's the only poster I know whose sweet tooth
interferes with his hearing. I take exception to 006's claim that I think the group only had 5 hits.

17..The Dern family, specified by Atl, zorro & VAUC, each claiming that Laura was their love child.

19.."A ferret need gallstones". Wait that could be wrong. The Boom(welcome to the show) trio
claims it's a fish needs a bicycle. Anyway it's a famous Gloria Steinem quote, who in her old age becames said fish
who latched onto a "bicycle".

18..Meyers Here with Eric Clapton. Zorro insists he's really a Pointer Sister.

20..Geordi says he shot the pope, while Sonny Bono shot the sheriff Who am I to argue? I wasn't there.

21..Italiano from Argentina, Waq & Pony get credit.,,to compensate for following the NBA.

22..Gladys and every Pip there is, 006 + pony+VAUC.

23..Haven't read Socal for awhile here, probaly since the age of Sauropods.

24..Check out the wordy meyers.

25..Perchance many dreamers are accurate here.

I applaud you for your perfection here.

"Pop group's 5 hits..."

I would offer "5 of the pop group's hits..." as clearer, but I am not the quizmeister, nor was I aware of some of those songs anyway. Another excellent challenge. Carry on :).

Dear Mr006

I have made errors, and people bring attention, and that is good. HOWEVER a correction is valid, when it affects the interpretation
of the question and, thus, the answer. That does not apply in this case. There was no way the question could be misinterpreted,
even by one nicky-picky, piddlin' poster to whom my tongue gives a raspberry.
