UConn is I think having a first-ever game with a team for the sixth time this season, with St. Bonny, UC-Davis, Oregon, UCF, Memphis, and Houston on the list through tonight and SMU still to come. In Jim Fuller's CT Post capsule for the matchup tonight, he noted that UConn has won 75 straight games against first-time opponents (I believe the total number of different teams played since 1974 will be about 160 by the end of the season).
Jim didn't mention who it was that's the lowdown, dagnabit, thumbsucking, varmitty team we love to hate and that last beat UConn on a first meeting, but any guesses? And don't worry, if I'm reading the records right and have identified the culprit, it's a team we've loved much more in their next three encounters with UConn.
