"This settlement is showing the importance--across the nation--how unfair pay, opportunity, funding and participation will not be tolerated. Making things worse for Tennessee, 12 out of 15 staffers laid off were women."

I only saw a little of the article.... and I guess they can prove beyond a doubt that the staffers were laid off solely based on gender.... I am curious, because at my place of employment we base it on seniority. I am curious as to what the pay issue is. Hummmm sounds like another interesting development out of Knoxville.

Keep an eye on some roughly similar legal procedings coming out of the U. of Iowa. Very messy, very bitter, and in the end, likely very expensive.

And this is why Dave Hart and Jimmy Cheek have a plethora of critics. Firing 12 female staffers when the two departments merged isn't the only thing to look at... Most of the firings were from the Lady Vol department... the department that actually had consistently produced SEC and National championship programs over all sports. This ties in to my argument for keeping the Lady Vols moniker as it was the department that never failed to produce a well respected product on and off the playing surface. Not something you could say about certain men's programs, especially in the last decade.

... the bad news if you are a Lady Vol fan is that Tennessee has to pay a $1M+ settlement in a gender discrimination suit; the worse news is that it just got a bit harder to fire Holly.
