...ironically, K-ville's wish for number nine comes true tonight but unfortunately for the Orange clad faithful it will be in the form of a loss and not a NC. In their first match-up, Baylor won by 9 despite getting outrebounded by 16, taking 22 less shots AND playing on Tenn's home court. Tenn does not really have an impressive win outside of K-ville this season and while their players hearts want to win very badly, the team has been inconsistent and underachieving for too long off a period for them to suddenly turn it around -- don't let their recent success against inferior teams fool you.

Baylor with a solid double digit win after Tenn's initial adenaline rush wears off.

As much as I would like to see the Huskies play the Vols one more time or old time sake, you are most likely right.

Not only will Tennessee not win tonite, but they won't see NC #9 in the next decade. Firstly, Baylor is just better than they are this year. Secondly, Tennessee has recruited well compared to most teams, but not well compared to the very best recruiting programs out there right now.

Once their moster class of Baugh, Manning, Johnson, Stricklen, and Bass is gone, they are looking at a solid team, but no superstars. Massengale has the potential to probably be the best , and while they still have a bunch of HS AA's on the team, the coaching staff has not shown they can actually teach athletes the requisite basketball skills, combined with an ability to play team ball, necessary to win it all.

Going back to 2009, i think it's clear that UCONN and Duke have recruited head and shoulders above them, and aTm and Maryland are at least on par, if not slightly ahead. If L'ville lands Russell and Muvunga, you can probably put them ahead of Tennessee as well. a great deal is riding on what Pat decides to do after this year and how the Tennessee administration responds. and of course, what Davis decides to do.

Tennessee is already in a 4-year drought of not making the final 4 should they lose tonight. there's a good chance they could go 7 or 8 years with no final 4 and lose their status of being part of the NC discussion every year.
